Personally I hate AI because it uses slave labor, is killing the planet and is making people stupid, but that’s just me. The soulless art aspect is just one little piece of my grander disdain.

Local here! As I’ve said on other posts, this was originally supposed to be a military personnel only celebration of the history of the US Army. Trump actually stole it from them and made it about himself. So yeah, they’re super embarrassed, they don’t want to be there, & they’re pretty pissed at King Orange.
My mom is retired military, and she says that basically all of it looks like malicious compliance. The terrible out of sync marching, the uniforms being as sloppy as you can get without actually being out of regulation, the bad salutes… no one wanted to give up their weekend for this mess and it shows.
(Also, as a lifelong DC native, the crowd wasn’t even as many people as I would expect to see on a normal Saturday when the tourists are hitting the mall.)
